Shadow Princess by Susanne Valenti & Caroline Peckham

I don’t know if this is a controversial take or not but… Darius didn’t do anything wrong? Like, babes, he’s known you for a couple months and while he may be hot for you, the choice between you and the brother he swore to protect with his life? That’s just not a competition. Of course he chose his brother. Just like you would have chosen your sister. Her hatred of him is just compounding with the trauma of the situation and she’s using it as a self fulfilling prophecy to say “See! He didn’t save me! He’s bad!” When really, she wouldn’t have saved him if the roles were reversed despite the fact that she obviously feels the exact same way about him as he does her.
He makes me so tired, though. Literally all he has to do is just stop getting in his own damn way. Just apologise and 80% of Tory’s hatred would go away. At this point, it’s a plot device and I’m OVER it. I’m so glad after Tory’s *chef’s kiss* bike steal, he finally stopped beating around the damn bush.

Obsessed with Max and Grus, oh my god. NOTHING IS BETTER THAN MAX BEING BONKERS OVER GRUS.

I will love Gabriel Nox forever. Every book he’s in. MY MAN.

I genuinely want Seth dead. I don’t know why I hate him so much more than the other three Heirs, maybe because his attack on Darcy was so personal and so psychological, maybe because he’s just a dripping bag of dicks, but I truly do not want to see him survive this series. Unfortunately, these authors feel like the type afraid to kill main characters and give them an unhealthy amount of plot armor to achieve that goal.

Darcy has been my favorite character from the beginning because in the face of all the atrocious shit they’ve dealt with, she’s remained hopeful and optimistic. Tory is so hell bent on being self destructive and punishing herself that she can’t tell the difference between her ass and a hole in the ground. She makes me want to scream. Now Darius is going to continue to suffer because of her selfishness. The poor dude has literally been smacked down at every single pivotal moment in his life and here we are, yet again, watching him get ripped to fucking shreds like he’s nothing. Darius and Caleb both deserve better and I’m over Tory Vega’s bullshit.

My final thoughts? I TAKE IT BAAAAAAACK. GIVE LANCE ORION HIS PLOT ARMOR AND BRING. HIM. BACK. I regret every comment I’ve made about these authors giving their characters plot armor thick enough to stop the Man of Steel. I am most assuredly not okay.
