A Casualty of Fate by Shai Lenore

Where to start? Two bangers back to back? My brain is shot.

There were so many times where I wanted to be so annoyed with Cate for the information withholding and secret keeping, but I get it. Trauma lives in the bones and it manifests in really strange ways. I’m glad she at least had one person she could confide in, no matter how that actually ended.

Jameson is legitimately just a big ass teddy bear. He’s so hard on himself and for why? A little murder? Who gives a shit, he’s a ball of love.

I will never get over how genuinely GOOD Frankie is. She’s actually the embodiment of sunshine.

Overall, I enjoyed the fast paced plot. I don’t have too much to say since I’ve been with these characters for a while now, I’m familiar with Shai Lenore’s writing style, story structure, and pacing. It’s always incredibly well done. I mean, I started reading and just swept through it like I didn’t have other things to be doing. 24/7, walking around phone to my face because I couldn't stand to put it down.

The chemistry between Jameson and Cate was so good and “Kitty”? Got me fucked up.

As an aside, I liked the inclusion of Frankie’s ‘baby’ storyline. It feels really honest to the pain that a lot of women go through around motherhood and their desires for a family.
